The Problem

Vocabulary learning is broken

01

You look up a new word or phrase, know what it means for a moment — and then it's gone. You'll look it up again tomorrow. And the week after.

02

You get the right answer every time in the app — but when the expression comes up in real life, it's gone. You didn't learn it; you learned the question.

03

Your app reviews everything on the same schedule — easy or hard, sticky or slippery. But your brain doesn't work on a fixed timetable.

Developer of Vocabulex

I spent three years learning English in the US: apps, teachers, books, podcasts, constant practice. But new words were forgotten almost immediately. Apps trained me to recognize the correct answer, not to recall and think. See a word in a new context — and I was lost: outside a memorized pattern, remembering it was hard. Spaced repetition presented easy and hard words on a fixed schedule, without real adaptation. Learning with no real progress. I created Vocabulex to change that.

The Solution

Built on how memory actually works

Real explanations, not definitions

Every word or phrase explained in plain language, with examples at your level. Not a sterile dictionary entry — context you can actually learn from.

Recall, not recognition

Every review brings a different example, a different context. Your brain retrieves the word each time — building memory you can reach for in real conversation, not just on a flashcard.

Genuinely adaptive

Every vocabulary card gets its own schedule, updated after every review. Not fixed intervals — real adaptation based on how well you actually know each item.

How It Works

Explore. Learn. Review.

01

Explore

You encounter an interesting word or phrase — in a show, a conversation, a book. AI explains it in plain language. Clear, direct, nothing extra.

02

Learn

Save a card and AI fills it with examples at your level — learning starts right away.

03

Review

Adaptive sessions that follow your memory. Every vocabulary card has its own schedule — showing up exactly when needed.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How is Vocabulex different from Anki?
Anki is a powerful, configuration-heavy tool where you build decks yourself or hunt for shared ones. Vocabulex generates contextual example sentences automatically at your level, and every review surfaces the word in a fresh sentence — so you practice true recall, not pattern-matching a memorized card face.
Is Vocabulex a good Quizlet alternative?
Yes. Quizlet is optimized for cram-style study sets before a test. Vocabulex is built for long-term retention: AI-generated flashcards, spaced repetition reviews, and varied-context recall — so words stay in your memory weeks and months after you learn them.
What is a vocabulary builder app?
A vocabulary builder app helps you systematically learn and retain new words. Vocabulex is an AI-powered vocabulary builder that creates flashcards from any word you encounter, adds real example sentences at your level, and schedules reviews using spaced repetition.
Does spaced repetition actually work?
Yes — it's one of the most well-established findings in memory research. Reviewing material at increasing intervals timed to the forgetting curve produces dramatically stronger long-term retention than cramming. Vocabulex applies it to vocabulary with adaptive, per-card schedules.
Which languages does Vocabulex support?
Vocabulex currently supports English, Spanish, German, Ukrainian, and Russian, with more languages on the way. You can learn vocabulary in any supported language with explanations and examples tailored to your level.
How much does Vocabulex cost?
Vocabulex offers subscription plans that provide access to premium features. Billing, pricing, and any free trial periods are managed through the App Store.
